This past weekend we experienced something deeply healing, thanks to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation.
We shared time with families who, like us, walk the complex and sacred path of grieving a child.
Men, women, and children… all of us opened our hearts. We all carry a different kind of wound. There’s no single way to grieve, no single kind of pain. Each story is unique, and each soul finds its own way through it.
For us, it was very special to share Matías’ book. It is not only the story of his six years with us, but also what he has revealed to us since he left: a call to awaken, a new way to see life —and death.
Grief is a paradoxical journey, where the deepest love and the sharpest pain coexist. And often, neither religion nor belief systems prepare us for something this immense.
Losing a child breaks all order. Life is supposed to move forward, and it’s meant for our children to see us go — not the other way around.
And when a child dies after battling something like cancer, the pain deepens. So many unanswered questions, medical decisions that hurt, and a system that often fails. A system that, the moment your child dies, severs all connection with you. No letter. No follow-up. No humanity. Just silence — a silence as heavy as the loss itself.
That’s why we’re deeply grateful to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation, for creating this space where our souls could breathe and our hearts could speak.
Even though our children are no longer with us, this weekend we didn’t feel alone.
We held each other. We listened.
And perhaps, little by little, we begin to live with this pain — not with resignation, but with the love that never ends.
Thank you — from the bottom of our hearts — for building this bridge of love between Earth and Heaven. For reminding us that we’re not alone, that even in the void there are hands that hold us, hugs that understand, and eyes that speak without words. We carry every shared story, every tear, every smile in our hearts — and the invisible thread that now unites us all. Thank you for giving us, even for a moment, the feeling of home… even in the middle of grief.
