😴 Matías and the Dreams that Connect Us
When the heart listens, dreams become a bridge to those we love.

A few nights ago, while we were sleeping, something magical happened: the giraffe sounded like never before during the night. It hadn’t sounded for days, and this time it went on all night.
Shortly after, I received a call from Luisa, my Dominican neighbor to whom Matías shows the pigeons. She almost never calls me, and this time she did to tell me about a beautiful dream she had with Matías. She said:
“Nubia, I usually don’t dream about anyone. When I dream, I don’t even remember. I would give my whole life to dream about my dad, who passed away 15 years ago… and this time I dreamed about Matías. He was talking to me, he was happy, he told me he was going to Venezuela to take care of his grandmother, that he had something very important to do there. His hair was so beautiful, and we were cleaning a house… but the house was like paradise, God’s paradise, because it was full of giant rocks. He was so happy!”
That dream happened a little over a week ago, and today I feel that everything fits together. As if Matías was already thinking about how to help his grandmother set up Christmas. A lady went to my mother’s house, stayed overnight, and helped put up all the Christmas decorations… and my heart feels that it was Matías guiding her, showing us that he is always near, watching over us even from heaven.
These little moments, dreams, and signs remind us that Matías’ love is still alive. That his joy, care, and light are here with us, guiding us in the everyday and the magical.
Sometimes we don’t need words or hugs to feel our loved ones close. In dreams, Matías reminds us that love transcends distance and life itself, and that we can always meet them, even if only in a whisper of the soul.
