When my husband Andrés’ father passed away, we lived through something we will never forget. He had spent his last years battling Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, illnesses that slowly dimmed his strength. In the middle of our grief, his partner suddenly revealed that she had married him… right at that moment. To prove it, she went out to make a copy of the marriage certificate. But the incredible thing happened on the street: a thief stole the wedding ring.
I couldn’t help but smile, because I felt it was his father’s spirit —together with Andrés’ mom from heaven— who made sure that ring would never stay in her hands. That night, while we stayed at Andrés’ sister’s home, he made his presence felt again: two firm knocks on the door, exactly the way he used to do in life. There was no one outside… but Andrés immediately recognized it: “that was my dad.”
When heaven and earth meet, darkness disappears, and light takes over. There is a higher force, an energy that does not allow secrets or appearances to prevail: sooner or later, it always reveals the truth. Even if some people live with their eyes closed, like walking dead unable to see these powerful signs, they are still there —clear and undeniable for those who look with the heart.
The universe, God, our loved ones —however we choose to name it— always find a way to show us what we need to know. Sometimes through a word, a dream, a coincidence, or even a simple knock at the door. Life and death are not rigid borders: there are windows, bridges, and messages.
Just like the story of the ring, over time hidden truths from decades past came to light. And although it was painful to discover them so late, it is comforting to know that the truth always finds a way to make itself known.
And that is why, even when the truth hurts or surprises us, I trust that light will always rise above the darkness, and that love is stronger than any lie. Because love does not die when someone departs —it transforms and becomes present in ways that fill us with peace. 🌟
