Sometimes, the words we learned as children become too small for our growing spirits. When we try to grasp the deepest mysteries—where we come from, what our joys and heartaches truly mean, or who we are in relation to that vast creative force we call God—rigid dogmas often build walls instead of understanding.
For a long time, I wondered how I could explain the universe as I intuitively feel it, perhaps to a curious child, without resorting to fear, guilt, or distant judges. Then, one day, an image arrived with absolute, serene clarity: an immense cosmic octopus.
In this vision, the divine Source is the living heart and center. Not a detached figure perched upon a remote throne keeping score of our mistakes, but the conscious core that pulses and sustains every breath of reality. We—the eternal souls—are its arms: living extensions reaching across the fathomless depths of space and time. Each arm possesses its own capacity to feel, to venture forth, and to choose freely. We are free will in motion, exploring the outer reaches of existence.
Along these arms rest the suction cups: our earthly lives, our incarnations. The suction cup is the part that touches the rough stone, feels the chill of the deep water, embraces the warmth of love, shares joyful laughter, and bears the weight of sorrow. It doesn’t exist to remain untouched or to hide from the world; it exists to experience everything. And in doing so, it sends the wisdom of every touch back to the center, feeding and expanding the infinite consciousness of the All.
Balance and the Meaning of the Journey
To glide through the ocean depths, no creature can rely on stillness alone; it must push against the resistance of the water. In the same way, the journey of our souls cannot be woven from flat light or hollow perfection. It requires contrast.
We often agonize over why hardship, loss, or darkness exist in our lives. Through this lens, the sacred balance becomes clear: light carries no texture or depth without the shadow that cradles it. In its sovereign freedom, each arm explores both radiant heights and quiet abysses. Painful trials are neither punishments nor design flaws; they are the currents that temper our spirit, giving profound weight and beauty to the love we choose to build amidst the storm.
Universal consciousness is not nourished merely by easy triumphs. It expands through the compassion born from grief, the patience discovered in uncertainty, and the courageous grace to keep loving even in the face of absence. In that sacred rhythm between the gentle and the rough, existence finds its true harmony.
The Certainty of What Is Never Lost
Nature holds quiet, profound truths. In the depths of the ocean, a sucker may wear down as it touches the jagged ocean floor, yet the arm remains alive. And if an arm is injured or even separated in the midst of a trial, the octopus does not cease to exist. Its living tissue possesses the ability to heal, renew itself, and grow again.
So it is with us. An earthly life may complete its journey and gently release its bond with the physical world, but that does not mean the essence that inhabited it ceases to exist. The arm may grow again, but not necessarily as the same arm: it can become a new expression of the same living creature. In the same way, the soul may return to experience existence through another life, another body, another story, and different circumstances, carrying within it the invisible continuity of what it truly is. The love, lessons, and imprint of each experience remain forever woven into the fabric of the Source.
An earthly departure is never a definitive void; it is an experience gathered and treasured within the heart of the Whole. Incarnation changes; essence remains. Form may transform; the Source continues. And so, what from our limited perspective may appear to be a loss can, from the vastness of the Whole, simply be another transition within the eternal movement of consciousness.
That is why, when I think of Matías, I do not think of something that ended. I think of an expression of the Source that changed form, but whose essence continues to live. His love, his light, and everything he awakened within us continue to move through that infinite current. And as long as that current exists—as long as the Whole exists—Matías is part of it, and part of us, forever.
