One of Those Children of the Sky (English version)
This post is also available in Spanish. Read it here
Yesterday, Matías spoke to us.
He did it the way he knows how: with synchronicities so clear, they shake you to the core.
He did it through a song: Children of the Sky, by Imagine Dragons.
My husband discovered it weeks ago, but it wasn’t until yesterday that he shared it with me. We watched the video and uncovered the message.
He had added the song to his playlist on June 11th — or 6/11 in U.S. format — the very date Matías was conceived: November 6th.
But there’s more.
The song was released on August 30th, 2023 — the same day Matías left for heaven.
And one of the songwriters… is named Matias.
In that song, I feel my son telling us to go on.
That there’s a place for us in the universe.
That he is still here.
That his soul is immense and radiant.
That he is one of those children of the sky.
We also thought about the ring we carry with us — the one we bought in his honor — engraved with the number 6:11.
Ephesians 6:11.
Another coincidence that is not a coincidence.
And in the video… there’s a boy his age. With his tenderness. His determination. His strength.
🌀 Our children in heaven do speak to us.
And they do it in the language we once shared with them.
Matías loves animals. He loves numbers. He loves the solar system, the sky, the stars.
And he knows his dad loves to discover music.
That’s his bridge.
His way of saying: I’m still here, with you.
And so, if you’re reading this, maybe it’s your message too.
Maybe your child, your loved one… is also trying to build that bridge with you.
What did they love when they were here with you?
A song? A color? A flower? A movie? A number? A word?
Start there.
Listen. Watch. Remember. Build that language.
Because in those little things might be their way of saying:
“I’ll be by your side, forever.”
Matías, thank you for this message.
Thank you for still being here.
Thank you for speaking to us in so many ways.
Because some children are born to light up the earth.
And others, like you, Matías, to shine in the sky.
A Song That Travels to the Sky
It’s not just our story that aligns with this song.
Children of the Sky was born with a greater purpose: to speak to those of us who look to the sky in search of answers.
It was created to explore the meaning of our existence, our connection to the universe, that eternal question: “Where do we fit into all of this?”
Dan Reynolds, lead singer of Imagine Dragons, said it himself:
This song poses “the most difficult questions we face as humans.”
And the universe listened.
In February 2025, Children of the Sky was selected to become the first song ever transmitted from the Moon to Earth, as part of a mission by Lonestar Data Holdings.
Why that song?
Because it inspires.
Because it speaks to the soul.
Because it is a bridge.
Even though the module crashed upon landing in March 2025 and the song couldn’t be transmitted as planned, the intention was already planted in human history:
to send music — and with it, meaning, love, and memory — into the cosmos.
When we listen to this song, it’s not just Matías speaking to us.
We feel the universe responding.
Telling us that there is a place for us up there, among the stars.
That our children in heaven are still sending us signs.
And that our connection with them is eternal —
as real as the light that travels for millions of years to reach us.
And what if the synchronicities don’t end here? There’s one more we’d love to share.
Today is June 26, exactly one month before Matías’s 8th birthday. And on July 26, as we honor his life during a Remembrance Weekend retreat, Imagine Dragons will be performing Children of the Sky live in London.
That same day.
That same song.
Exactly the day Matías will be celebrating from the sky.
Coincidence? We don’t think so. The day he was conceived. The day he was born. The day he left.
Dad’s birth month. Mom’s birth month.
It’s all there.
Because Matías loves numbers.
And sometimes, numbers speak for him.Because when love is this strong, signs become bridges.
And music becomes a way to remind us that there is a place for us in the universe.
